A Snowfield of One’s Own

A Snowfield of One’s Own

When snow starts to fall

The wind also falls still

Heaven and earth stretch like a sheet of plain paper

Footprints, the only signature.

I plant my shadow on the snow

Like a silent, withered branch

Listening to snowflakes’ soft kiss on my lashes

Listening to my heartbeat shatter the vast emptiness.

Distant mountains lie as faint ink strokes

A bird cuts the sky, shouldering the white

No path coming, no road going

Just me, and the snowfield

Each other’s distant land.
